Attendance
Pupils are expected to attend school. The school monitors attendance on a daily basis. It is also very important that pupils arrive at school in time for the 8.55 am bell. The Education Welfare Officer regularly attends school to monitor attendance.
Term time holidays are discouraged, however the Head Teacher has discretion to authorise up to 10 days absence if attendance is otherwise very good. The EWO will make contact if unauthorised absence is registered.
If any pupils attendance falls below 90%, a letter will be sent to the parents to draw attention to the absences and explain why attendance is so important for academic and social development. The EWO will also need to be informed and could be involved in better attendance discussions. If poor attendance continues then a further letter will be issued and a meeting will be set up involving the Local Authority and referral to the EWO case load for investigation.
Target for this year is 96% +.

Punctuality
A member of staff will be on duty at the gate from 8:45am. Children can then walk independently to their classrooms, where they will be welcomed by their class teacher.
We kindly ask parents and carers to remain at the gate with their child/ren until a member of staff opens it. The gate will close at 8:55am.
- Arrivals after 8:55am should report to the main entrance.
- Arrivals after 9:15am will be marked as late.
Please note that late marks are monitored by the school and the Education Welfare Officer (EWO).
